Soccer Season

Spring Sports are starting.  One of the benefits of me working at the Y is the kids can sign up for sports for free.  It's great to feel like we can take advantage of letting them explore and play whatever they want as they learn and discover what they are good at and what they love to do.

Emma has wanted to play soccer since she saw Molly do it a year and 1/2 ago.  Molly decided soccer was not for her...to much running, she said.  But Emma has been thrilled for her season to start.  She hasn't done much on her own.  This little pre-school team doesn't do much in the way of practices, so we just showed up at her first game ready to jump right in.  They did a little practicing before-hand, and Emma was having a blast.  She seemed like a natural...able to dribble the ball, and getting it right into the goal.  Then the game started...and along with it, the tears.  She scored a goal right off the bat, the first to do so. Then Emma seemed to spend most of the rest of the game in tears because it was more difficult to get the ball.  We hope this ends up being a good learning experience for her, and hopefully she ends up loving it and wants to do it again.
